Many of your Life Group members watching this DVD may have already taken the steps to Follow, Believe and are striving to Obey. So I want to encourage you to encourage them to think of their neighbors, coworkers, and/or friends as they listen to Andy Stanley unpack the first two parts. Then as a group pray for those disconnected from God and pray for each of your members that they would be ready for God to use them in those lives.
Then again some of your members might realize that they are stuck in one of the first two parts and need to take that next step. Encourage each member of your group to try and identify where they would see themselves in this Follow, Believe and Obey faith journey. As a leader this DVD study can help you see where members are at in their journey with God.
Below is an outline of our DVD study that will give you a better idea of what lies ahead for your group.
- Simple – Andy Stanley
Jesus arrived on the stage of world events and announced that God’s intent was to connect with, not confuse, mankind. To those who were considered most distant from God, Jesus offered this simple invitation, “Follow me.” People who accepted his offer found themselves captivated by an extraordinary faith leading them to adopt a lifestyle that turned the world upside down.
Follow
When Jesus came to earth, He introduced an approach to God that stood in sharp contrast with the religious standards of the day. It seemed like an oversimplification. Even today, there’s a tendency to complicate Jesus’ simple invitation. According to Jesus, we’re invited to follow. As we learn in this message, by simply following, we avail ourselves of His nature, His example and His power to change our lives.
Believe
Jesus’ initial invitation is a simple one: follow, Watch, listen, consider – follow. But is that all that’s necessary to connect with God? In this message, we learn that in time, those who follow find themselves drawn to take a second, simple step. A step that is available to everybody. And it is the next step that is the key to a relationship with God. Believe.
Obey
Obedience is one of the most misunderstood and misrepresented aspects of Christianity. Is following Christ really only about a list of do’s and don’ts? If not, then why does the list seem so important? In this message, we discover that the confusion comes when we get the steps out of order. Jesus said to: Follow. Believe. Obey.
As we make our way through this upcoming October campaign may we all realize that God has Greater Things for each as we serve Him within our Life Group ministry here at Gateway Community Church.
